Enid High Baseball - Enid Plainsmen Baseball Coaches and Staff
Scott Baugh #24 Head Coach
The Enid
High Plainsmen baseball program is entering its seventh season under the
direction of Head Coach Scott
Baugh
The 2006 Plainsmen were 23-14 under Baugh, as they won their second
regional tournament and made their second straight state tournament
appearance. In 2005 Baugh was named Mid-State Conference Coach of the Year.
While the plainsmen made there first state tournament appearance in 10
years.
In 2004 Baugh was named Region One Coach of the year by the Oklahoma Coaches
Association and in 2002 the Enid News & Eagle named Baugh their 2002
Athletic Achievement Awards Boys Coach of the Year.
Baugh
began his coaching career in 1988, as a graduate assistant coach at the
University of Oklahoma, under legendary Sooner Head Coach Enos Semore. He
also coached under hitting Coach Jim Fleming (currently General Manager of
the Florida Marlins) and pitching Coach Stan Meek (currently Director of
Scouting with the Florida Marlins). While Coach Baugh was at OU; the Sooners
made two appearances in national regional, one at Arizona State and one at
the University of Arizona. During Baugh’s tenure at OU he coached such
Sooner greats as Chris Ebright, Darron Cox, Kevin King, Matt Ruebel, Jim
Huslig, Mike Hensley, and Todd Butler.
Baugh’s
next coaching stop was at Midwest City High School where he became the
pitching coach in 1993. During his time there he served under Bomber Head
Coach Jerry Long. The Bombers made state tournament appearances in 1993,
1995, 1997, 1998, and made it to the finals in 1995. During Baugh’s tenure
at Midwest City he coached such players as Brady Cantrell (University of
Oklahoma), A.J. Hinch (Stanford University, Oakland A’s, Kansas City
Royals), Ryan Budde (Oklahoma State University, Anaheim Angels), Tommy
Whiteman (University of Oklahoma, Houston Astros), Chris Atchley (Oral
Roberts University), Garrett Bell (Kansas State), Brian Turney (University
of Kansas), Gabe Luttrell (Kansas State), Dale Pearson (Oklahoma State),
Shane Hawk (New York Mets), Ryan Ashley (Kansas State), Jason Long (Kansas
State) and, Vernon Maxwell (San Diego Padres and New York Yankees).
Baugh has already had success sending Enid players to the next level with such
players as Kyle Marlatt (San Jacinto Jr. College, Texas A&M), Kyle Tebow
(Hutchinson Jr. College), Josh Clark (Western Junior College), Tyler Buckminster
(Northwestern State University), Justin Funk (Northern Oklahoma College), Zach
Wallis (Northern Oklahoma College), Kenyon Hughes (Central Christian
College-Kansas), Dault Roberts (Northern Oklahoma College), Schyler Burns
(Seminole), Kurt Elliott (Northern Oklahoma College), Tyler Fleming (Cowley
County), Thomas Willson (Northern Oklahoma College), Richard Burdick
(Northwestern State University) Chris O’Brien (Cowley County), Clint Dodds
(Northwestern State University) and Josh Bowles ( Northwestern State
University).
During the summer of 2000 Baugh was the pitching coach for the Grand Forks
Channel Cats (Grand Forks, North Dakota) in the Northwoods Collegiate Summer
League. During his time there he coached such players as Ross Hawley (Kansas
State, L.A. Dodgers), Ryan Hawley (Kansas State), Chad Zaucha (Indiana
State) and, Chad Barton (Oklahoma Baptist University).
Coach
Baugh was born on July 5th, 1965 in Memphis, Tennessee. He graduated from
Pine Bluff High School (Pine Bluff, Arkansas) in 1983. His senior year he
was a pitcher for the State Champion Pine Bluff High School baseball team.
He received a baseball scholarship to Ouachita Baptist University
(Arkadelphia, Arkansas) and graduated from there with a BSE degree in 1987.
He also received a Master of Science degree from the University of Oklahoma
in 1990. On November 24, 1990, he married the former Kim Barnett and they
have two children, Brady (14) and Kathryn (9).
James Peoples #8 Head Assistant Coach
James
Peoples is the Head Assistant Baseball Coach for the Enid High Plainsmen. James played
college baseball at Seminole Jr. College and Southeastern University in
1990-1991 in Durant. Coach Peoples is entering his 14th year as a member of
the Plainsmen coaching staff.

James has coached American Legion baseball (AA & AAA) since 2001. In
2003, Peoples coached the AA American Legion Baseball team to a State
Championship and third at the National Regional.

He is married to Sandy and has two children, Spencer and Trevor.
Chris Jensen #16 Assistant Coach
Chris
Jensen is entering his sixth year as an assistant coach for the Plainsmen. He
was an assistant coach at Norman North High School before coming to Enid.
He is a 1996 graduate of Norman High School, Jensen played college baseball at
Rose State College and East Central State in Ada.

Chris
and wife Kellie have a son named Blake.
Dennom Sullivan #22 Assistant Coach
Dennom
Sullivan is in his seventh year as an assistant coach for the Plainsmen.
Sullivan played his Freshmen year of college baseball at Phillips University in
Enid. He then moved on to play his Sophomore season at Western Oklahoma State.
Sullivan graduated from Junior College and finished his playing days at West
Texas A&M University in Canyon, Texas. He graduated from West Texas in 2000 with
a degree in Sports & Exercise Science. Sullivan was prepped at Trinity H.S. in
Euless, Texas, 1996.

Dennom and his wife Jennifer have a son Brock and a daughter Emma.
TJ Scholz - Assistant Coach
TJ Scholz is entering his 2nd season as an assistant coach for Enid High
Plainsmen baseball.
Kurt Elliott

Kurt Elliott is entering his 1st season as an assistant coach for Enid High
Plainsmen baseball.
Thomas Willson

Thomas Willson is entering his 1st season as an assistant coach for Enid
High Plainsmen baseball.
Rob Kappus - Certified and Licensed Athletic Trainer 8th Season
Rob
is a part of the Plainsmen staff through a partnership with Integris Bass
Baptist Hospital. Rob is a 1991 graduate of Bishop Kelley High School, where he
was trainer for the football and soccer teams. Following his high school career,
Rob attended St. Gregory’ Junior College in Shawnee. While at St. Gregory, he
worked as a trainer for the men’s basketball team. He then attended the
University of Oklahoma, where he obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Health and
Sports Sciences, with a minor in history. During his time at OU, he
volunteered as an athletic trainer for Norman High School. After completing his
undergraduate work, Rob completed his Masters Degree in education at the
University of Tulsa, where he worked at Eastern Oklahoma Orthopedic Center as a
graduate assistant. While at Tulsa University, he provided physical therapy
services at EOOC in the morning and covered high school sports at Charles Page
High School in the afternoons.

Plainsmen News
Congratulations go out to senior infielder Nick Rountree as he was named to
the Oklahoma Coaches Association All State team. Congratulations Nick!!!
The Plainsmen baseball season came to an end with a 6-3 defeat to Owasso in the
semi finals of the State Tournament. The Plainsmen finished the year with a
29-12 record and a top 5 ranking in the State of Oklahoma. Congratulations
Plainsmen on a great season!!
